Fara Li's presentation on How to make the most of your life transition

Fara Li's presentation on How to Make the Most of your Life Transitions.

Fara Li, Bellevue Business Professional Women's March luncheon speaker, shared with us on the topic of How to make the most of your life transitions.

She shared with us her story of leaving a good job that offered stability.  After mastering the skills for that job, Fara asked herself what kind of work would fulfill her besides getting a regular paycheck.  Something that merges meaning, life purpose, and her contribution to the world.

So she took a brave step -- explore new possibilities in a new country.

Fara then shared with us several strategies she used in her process of transition:

2.  Care for emotional well-being

3.  Keep vision for the future near us

Take action.  Fara learned all kinds of skills she's curious about.  She took classes to explore whether she actually likes them or not.  Even if it's a small step, she took action.  This propels her forward in her journey.

Fara had us write down what we've always wanted to try but haven't.  We went around our table and shared that with each other.

Care for our emotional well-being.  While going through a transition, there may be days when we have doubts about our journey.  To keep ourselves positive, think of what we appreciate in our lives.  Focus on what we have, what is going well.

Fara had us write down 3 things we appreciate right now, and we went around our group to share that with one another.

Keep our vision in front of us.  What goal do we want to reach in the next few years?  What would we want our life to look like?  Picture that in our mind.  Fara pictures the end results in her mind AND write the goal (s) on a card that she keeps in her wallet so she can constantly refer to it.

We wrote our goals down and shared that with one another at the table.

We've probably heard of all these tools at one point or another.  Doing them is different from hearing about them and thinking it's a good idea.  At our March luncheon, we actually DID all 3 steps.  And we now have cards we carry in our purse reminding us of the goal that we want to achieve in the next few years.

Fara Li's exploration led her to the field of Human Resources.  Guess what?  She just received an offer to be a recruiter.  Congratulations Fara!  To get in touch with Fara, email her at Fara.li@outlook.com.

On April 17th, we welcome Thach Nguyen back to Bellevue BPW as our speaker 3 years in a row!  Thach will be sharing with us how to create meaningful relationships from our networking.

A thought leader, Thach will be showing us how to contribute to others' lives without any agenda.  If anyone knows how to contribute, it is this philanthropist. Welcome back Thach Nguyen!
